Harvey Mitchell, Mickey, Bella and Alayla Savvidis all competed at the South Australian Brazilian Jiu Jitsu State Championships last Saturday, held at the Wayville Basketball Stadium in Adelaide.

After losing her first match in the Juvenile Girls Gi, Blue, Juvenile 2 competition, Alayla advanced to the final by winning her bronze medal match by submission.

Facing the same opponent from her first match, Alayla served some revenge by winning the gold medal on points.

Alayla advanced to another final in the Juvenile Girls No-Gi, Blue, Juvenile 2 division, but was forced to settle for a silver medal after losing the final on points.

Mickey and Bella Savvidis also won a gold and silver medal, with Mickey losing a highly competitive final on points in the Boys Gi, Grey, Teen II before earning a gold medal in the Boys No-Gi, Grey, Teen III competition by submission.

Bella Savvidis won gold in the Girls No-Gi, Grey, Teen I competition and silver in the Girls Gi, Grey, Teen I division.

Harvey Mitchell finished a very successful trip to South Australia for Team Lazaros with a silver medal in the Boys Gi, White, Teen I section.
