Redbacks fight versus Cobras
The Carisbrook Lady Redbacks tried their best, but had a tough time against the Bacchus Marsh Cobras, failing to score as they went down by 125 points.
The Lady Redbacks entered Mars Stadium on Sunday fixated on improving from their efforts against Lake Wendouree in round one.
Fresh off a 98-point victory against East Point, the Cobras were keen to keep the dominating start to the season going, scoring five unanswered goals in the first term to lead by 33 points at the break.
Bacchus Marsh continued to keep their foot on the gas in the second quarter, kicking another five goals in the second to increase their advantage to 67 points.
Not fully disheartened by the half-time scoreline, the Lady Redbacks brought tenacity in the third quarter limiting the Cobras to four goals as the margin increased to 96 points.
Carisbrook continued to scrap until the final siren, only conceding an extra four goals in the final quarter as Bacchus Marsh was victorious 18.17.125 to no score.
Abbey Bertram worked hard to generate some momentum for the Lady Redbacks against the tide, and was rewarded by being named the teams best player. Eden Weaver, Charlotte Metters and Olivia Butler were also named in the best for the Lady Redbacks.
Melanie Freeman, Indi Stanley, Amy Garofalo and Chloe Walker were the top players for the Cobras while Isabella Faralla kicked seven goals.
The Lady Redbacks will look to pick themselves up in their first home game of the season, welcoming Redan to Carisbrook Recreation Reserve this Sunday.
