Progress on new hospital
Maryborough and District Hospital has recently made major progress with internal works being finalised across all levels.

Member for Ripon Martha Haylett returned to the site on Wednesday afternoon to oversee recent progress of the $115 million hospital redevelopment.
“People might have seen that so much is complete but they may not be sure of what’s now inside, so today we got a sneak peek and saw that we are really at the tail end of this project now, and we are so close to the finish line,” she said.
The state-of-the-art project is set to provide better access to primary and community health services with a new urgent care centre, 32-bed inpatient and maternity unit, two operating theatres and recovery spaces, and a day medical centre with imaging, a pharmacy and pathology services.
The redevelopment has nearly completed works for new consultant suites and a new reception area to provide better care for patients and ensure that staff have the facilities they need to provide better care to the community.
The project also includes more than 80 additional car spaces for staff, visitors and additional improvements to drop off areas.
Maryborough District Health Service CEO Nickola Allan said as works continue to progress, the redevelopment is on time for completion this year.
“We have done site tours in the past couple of weeks with our staff, and there has just been a real buzz in excitement, the lifts are working, the power is on, we have dual language signage up, we are certainly another step closer to being complete,” she said.
Ms Haylett said the project is set to be complete within the next few months.
“It’s very close, the community has been looking forward to this for so long, it’s been years in the making, it means a lot to the community with high quality facilities, not just for Maryborough but for our whole region,” she said.
With major construction works nearing completion, external works including landscaping will get underway shortly to ensure the expansion is complete in 2025.
