Harcourt will hope to see some improvement in their rebuild this season after winning two games in 2024.

Their opening match against the Tigers will be an early sign of the improvement the Lions have made in the off-season and pre-season against a quality opponent.

In their only tie against each other last season, Lexton managed to take a comfortable 36-goal win against Harcourt, so reducing that margin or even frightening the Tigers will certainly be a step in the right direction for Harcourt.

In recent memory, Lexton has always been a perennial contender in the MCDFNL, highlighted by a grand final berth in 2022.

The Tigers fell a little bit behind the pack in 2024, entering finals without a double chance after finishing in fifth.

Lexton used all of their finals experience to sweep aside Newstead in the elimination final and outlast Carisbrook in the semi-final before succumbing to Natte Bealiba by nine goals in the preliminary final, their second consecutive loss at that stage.

The Tigers will hope Harcourt can be a good warm-up for them as they aim to go even further in 2025 and challenge the established contenders for the premiership.
