MCDFNL Round 9 Netball Preview Talbot v Trentham
Talbot will attempt to put a definitive end to their five-game tailspin this weekend against the finals-aspiring Trentham Saints.

The Hawks didn’t have the answers against Carisbrook a fortnight ago, forced to watch their 13-goal quarter time deficit grow throughout the game. The 34-goal defeat was a major contrast to their one-goal thriller versus Carisbrook that kickstarted the team’s recent skid.
While defenders Melissa Scott and Maddy Williams continued to challenge the Redbacks, Talbot struggled to gain any traction on offence with star shooters Eleisha Phelps and Elenoa Costello on the sidelines.
Teenagers Charli Kaye and Lilli Gale provided a major bright spot during the defeat, bringing some valuable attacking energy off the bench as they combined to net 10 goals.
With their fixture list finally beginning to ease, the Hawks will look to regain their confidence and shorten their gap to the league’s elite.
While Talbot’s have been stuck in a losing rut, the Saints have flown into the top eight with three consecutive victories over Maldon, Harcourt and Campbells Creek.
Shooter Hannah Weier has made an immediate impact since joining the team, helping Trentham’s offence reach new heights with 85 goals in her first two matches.
The likes of Jessica Walker, Madelyne Brennan and Lauren Girvan have caused major headaches for opposing attackers in recent weeks, hoping to do the same against a Talbot team trying to recapture its offensive identity.
