Sunday 7th July 2024 will mark 150 years since the original Maryborough Station was opened. Step back in time and join the celebrations at the Station when Central Goldfields Visitor Centre hosts a program of fun and fascinating activities for all ages.
The local community, history buffs and visitors are invited to come along and enjoy the program from 10.45am. There will be touches of nostalgia, displays, tours, entertainment, free activities for all – even a visit from Her Majesty, Queen Victoria. Dress to the theme if you choose - perhaps it’s time to bring out that vintage hat or outfit, or just come as you are - all are welcome!
The event commemorates the opening of the original Railway Station building from 1874. The smaller original building was superseded by the new, grand station that was completed less than twenty years later in 1891 and stands today as an icon of the town.
