Football Preview: Harcourt v Lexton
A battle of the big cats will help commence the 2025 season as Lexton takes the long trip to Harcourt.

Both teams are fresh off preliminary final defeats to finish last season and are keen to keep their premiership windows open and once again contend in September.
Harcourt’s aspirations of a four-peat were dashed at the hands of Natte Bealiba last season, ending the Lion’s period of domination in their tracks.
However, they say a wounded Lion is just as dangerous, and Harcourt has recruited strongly, determined to return to the mountain top in short order.
With Billy Quirk and Jack Threlfall looking to sure up the backline and Geoffrey Jolly and Tomas Stefaniw providing some ruck depth, the Lions look to once again be back near the top of the table.
Their round one opponent, Lexton, has been a consistent fixture in finals over the last few seasons but has been unable to claim their first MCDFNL senior’s premiership.
The Tigers converted their double chance into a preliminary final berth before being eliminated by Trentham in a 78-point defeat.
Lexton’s focus in the off-season was to get taller and stronger across the ground, with a wave of fresh and returning faces prepared to make that focus a reality.
The Lions and Tigers only faced each other once in the 2024 season, with the Lions coming out on top in the round 17 clash by 33 points.
Lexton managed to go blow for blow with Harcourt for three quarters before the Lions managed to kick away in the final quarter.
