Football Preview: Dunolly v Carisbrook
With both teams aiming to go further in 2025 after their semi-final defeats, Dunolly will welcome Carisbrook to Deledio Recreation Reserve.
Even though both teams were eliminated in the same stage last season, Dunolly and Carisbrook took different paths to reach their 2024 destination.
The Eagles were one of the league’s biggest improvers last season, going from finishing 10th in 2023 to fifth in 2024.
After missing out on the top four in the final round, Dunolly defeated Newstead in the elimination final to grab their first finals victory in 15 years.
Their run didn’t go any further than that point, knocked out by Lexton in the semi-final by 21 points.
The Eagles will hope to continue that momentum into 2025, especially with the introduction of Dylan and Ryan Burt as well as Lachie and Taylor Watson.
After losing out in a thrilling 2023 grand final against Harcourt, Carisbrook struggled to adapt to constant injury issues and losing some key players.
The Redbacks rallied to finish in sixth before being once again eliminated by the Lions by 22 points.
With many key players returning from injury and a strong recruiting class, the Redbacks strive to be a team to watch this season.
The only contest between these two sides last season was an instant classic, with both teams bringing their best throughout the match..
It was the Eagles who came out on top in that round 13 encounter, holding on to a pivotal three-point victory.
