Carisbrook and Beaufort meet in an intriguing encounter at Carisbrook Recreation Reserve.

Much has changed since their first-round meeting — one which saw Carisbrook take a 12-run victory.

Since the Brookers’ fairytale start — which saw them record two wins in the opening two games — it’s been tougher going, losing their last three while for Beaufort, their long losing streak has since been snapped, going on to take three wins including their first one-day game against Colts Phelans.

Carisbrook will be back in the familiar one-day setting, having won the last two A reserve premierships playing the format, and will be hoping a number of in-form players continue to lead the way tomorrow.

Dean Nalder has been the pick of the bunch so far this season, sitting third on the run charts with 187 runs, making 111 runs without being dismissed over his last two games, including 59 last Saturday against Colts. In addition to that, he also sits second at Brook with the ball, taking five wickets for the season.

James Adam has also made a solid start in A grade, continuing on the form which saw him take the best on ground medallion in the A reserve grand final last year. Adam has been a consistent presence in the middle order, scoring 80 runs for the season and taking three wickets.

Nick Broad will be up and about for this encounter, having starred in the last meeting between the two teams, taking 5/20 as he helped guide the Brookers to their win.

However, the Crows will be a tougher proposition this time around.

In their last meeting, they were a little bit too inefficient with the ball, conceding 50 extras, and will be determined to not let that happen this time around.

To their credit, and a large reason for their renaissance, the Crows have steadied with their bowling in recent weeks.

Last week, it was young talent time for the Crows, with a couple of teenagers leading the way with the ball.

Cooper Cahill, in his first A grade appearance, showed that he wasn’t afraid to mix it with the experience Laanecoorie Dunolly top order, taking the wickets of Matt Smith, Luke Smith and Joe Lovel én route to figures of 3/32.

Ben Grant was another who stood up, taking 2/27 as they did everything possible to give the Crows a chance.

Beaufort are still in the position of having the leading run-scorer and leading wicket-taker in the competition.

Through Lachlan Oddie with the bat and Jay English with the ball, both have provided the Crows with plenty of ammunition so far this season, and another solid performance could see them continue their good start to the one-day campaign.
