Council seeks feedback as new four bin system nears
The Central Goldfields Shire is encouraging residents to provide feedback to support the transition to a new bin system that will fit the needs of the community.

The Victorian Government is standardising household waste and recycling services across the state.
This will make it easier for people to sort their materials at home, ensuring waste and landfill can be reduced.
Victorian households currently send four million tonnes of material to landfill each year.
This new system is designed to significantly reduce unsustainable amounts of waste.
Households that receive waste and recycling services will have access to a new standardised four-stream system with separate services for glass recycling, food organics and garden organics (FOGO), mixed recycling, and general rubbish.
Lids for each stream will be colour coded, with purple for glass recycling, lime green for organic waste, yellow for mixed recycling and red for general waste.
Separation of household waste and recycling into the four material streams helps reduce contamination and increases the volume and quality of materials to be recovered for recycling and reuse.
Individual shires will decide on bin sizes and collection frequency, which can vary depending on local circumstances.
To assist Central Goldfields Shire with the transition, residents are invited to share their feedback on waste.
This will also help council roll out a new four bin service that best meets the needs of the community.
Locals are invited to find out more or provide feedback by chatting to the council’s waste team in person at the Talbot Farmers Market (SundaysMay 18 and June 15) and Dunolly Country Market (Sunday March 23, April 27 and June 22).
The State Government is working closely with councils to support the new waste system by providing funding, assisting with planning and implementation, the rollout of new bins, delivery of critical infrastructure, and drop-off point upgrades.
