The event involved a run and ride, and finished with a swim in the indoor 25 m pool.

The long course format involved a 2 km run, 8 km cycle (2 x 4 km loop), and 400 m swim, while the short course was a 1.5 km run, 4 km cycle, and 200 m swim.

In the Open Male long course, it was Josh Britten and Tyler Beale who enjoyed the course conditions to post strong times.

Little separated Britten and Beale throughout the run leg, but Britten was able to put some distance between himself and Beale with a fast first transition and a scintillating cycle leg heading into the swim leg.

Beale and Britten both continued to surge to the finish line in the swim leg, with Britten producing one of the most outstanding club performances in recent memory to set a new course record, breaking the 30-minute barrier to take first place in the time of 29:46.

Beale also continued strongly to the finish line to take second place in the time of 38:23.

In the Open Female category, Ella Govan also had an outstanding performance, overcoming a bike malfunction towards the end of the cycle leg to complete the course in 42:04 and take first place.
