The Dunolly Vehicle Club are gearing up for next weekend’s event.

According to club secretary Thea Hillier, the inaugural event will have something for auto-heads and non-enthusiasts alike.

“We are making it an extrava-ganza,” she said.

“We have a swap meet on Saturday to kick things off which will have all kinds of collectables and bric-and-brac.

“We managed to get a framed board donated by local hot rod legend Rod Hadfield which has been cleaned up and repositioned and will go to silent auction.

“Sunday will start with a show and shine with classic cars, bikes and caravans — we have the most magnificent trophies for the event.

“We have a monstrous raffle that is being supported by all of these local businesses which will be drawn on Sunday.”

The weekend festivities will also include an auto-themed art show from the Dunolly Primary School, performances from The Groove Dudes and the Darling Buds of Maldon Saturday night and breakfast provided by the local RSL and fire brigade.

Ms Hillier said the club is excited to showcase their passion for all things motoring to the community.

“It’s quite a full-blown event for our first time which is pretty exciting,” she said.

“Usually these events attract people with the same passion because they are eager to see the cars of yesterday that their parents had or wish they had.

“Like any hobby, if you are passionate and driven, you want to go out and see more of it.”

Since its foundation in October 2021, club president Jan Stephenson said the club has allowed community members to come together.

“We thought it would only be a very small club with 20 members, but it's blown out to over 60 members,” he said.

“The good thing about the club is it has brought in a lot of members that we would have never known and have been able to befriend.

“We had a few members who wouldn’t leave their house and they have come in and opened right up, it’s giving them something to do.”

The Dunolly Vehicle Club Swap Meet Weekend is next Saturday, November 30 and Sunday, December 1 from the Dunolly Golf Club.

Entry is $5 with free entry for kids. The event is cash only with no pets allowed.
